Elmer's CraftBond and X-Acto Products Review

Who hasn’t heard of Elmer’s glue right? Elmer’s glue is a huge crafting staple. But what I didn’t know is that they also have a whole slew of new products. I was asked by BzzAgent to try some of Elmer’s new products. I was super excited to give them a try.

I used the Elmer’s products I received to make this Halloween Card.

First I began by scalloping the edges of a piece of acrylic paper. I then used the X-ACTO Corner Rounder Punch to “round” the corners. Just a side-note I am completely in love with the corner rounder punch and I think it is a must have scrapbooking accessory!

Next, I painted a spooky scene using acrylic paints.

I designed my actual Halloween card by first gluing tiny little alphabet hole punches that read, “Happy Halloween” to the bottom of the card. I always have a really hard time gluing the small paper punches but the Elmer’s CraftBond Clear Glue Pen made it super easy to attach the punches to the card and it really does dry clear and invisible!

Next using the Elmer’s CraftBond Permanent Tape Runner I attached my spooky painted scene to the front of the Halloween Card. I couldn’t believe how easy the tape runner was to use. I am completely hooked.

Lastly, I made little paper ghosts using the X-ACTO decorative scissors to finish the bottom of the ghosts. To give the ghosts dimension and to make them "pop" I used large Elmer’s CraftBond Glue Spots.

Scary Halloween Mask

You would think as a crafter that my children would love to wear and use all the stuff I make. Sadly, that is just not the case. My children see me craft all the time so it is not that special to them. They want unique and different.

Recently, I sat down to make a Halloween Mask using Rigid Wrap. The process intrigued my son because we had used something very similar last year to make a diorama together. We had some great bonding time making the diorama and he was hoping that he could help with the Halloween mask.

His first and most important question before we even began was, “What is the mask going to be?”

“I am thinking that I could easily make a cute kitten or bunny mask”, was my response.

He became upset with my answer because he thinks I make things too, “girlie”. We sat down together and began to scour the Internet for scary Halloween mask images. Who knew there were so many? Seriously!

After a long search we found a scary mask that he really liked and we then set out to make a similar shape with Rigid Wrap. Click here for complete instructions with pictures.

We had so much fun making the mask. Poor guy when it was all done he asked if we had to put a bow or some ribbon on it? It made me laugh, I promised no ribbon, and to start making more boy projects!

Kids Craft Bat Halloween Decoration

I prefer to decorate my home for each holiday with my children's crafts.  They always have such fun making the decorations and I enjoy seeing them up.  Honestly, it makes me happy every time I look at them.  I am not sure what I am going to do when they stop wanting to do crafts with me?  But until then I will relish the time spent crafting and decorating the home with them.

Here is an easy bat that kids can make for a Halloween decorations, even make several bats and hang them with string in the windows.

Materials:
Black Card Stock
Black, White, and Black Glitter Foam
Silver Glitter Glue
Googly Eyes
Scissors
Tape
Glue Dots

Instructions:
1. Begin by folding a standard size piece of card stock in half.  Then cut the card stock along the fold.
2. Next, fold the card stock into an accordion shape.

3. Fold each end together and tape them to form a circle.  Do not tape it tightly but rather just let the ends meet.

4. Glue dot fangs, eyes, and googly eyes on the bat's face.

5. Cut out bat wings and tape them along the back of the bat's face.

6. Lastly, using silver glitter glue embellish the bat's wings.

Snazaroo Face Paint Review

With Halloween approaching I thought a face paint review would be perfect.

I need really good face paint because I will be face painting next weekend at my town’s Fall Festival. I scoured the shelves for face paint that would be safe, non-toxic, and FDA Compliant because I know that I will be face-painting hundreds of kids.

The paint I chose was Snazaroo it is the “world’s safest & easiest to use”. Snazaroo paint is water-based and it washes off easily with soap and water. I also liked that they had a variety of colors to offer individually packaged, tons of different color palettes, and they even offer metallic paint.

Before I even began practicing with the paint I went to Snazaroo’s website. The website is full of great ideas, loads of pictures, and step-by-step instructions for some of the more common themes. I was thrilled with the paint before I even used it!

At my town’s Fall Festival I will be doing more cheek painting than actual face painting so I will not be applying the paint with a sponge but rather a paintbrush. I just wet my paintbrush, brushed it across the color, and then painted. It was very easy to paint with!

I decided to test the Snazaroo paint on myself by painting an octopus on my hand.   The octupus design was inspired from an image on the Snazaroo site.  For the main body of the octopus I used blue and green. I added detail to the face with black and white. To make the suckers on the octopus legs I used the rounded end of paintbrush dipped it into the white.

My hand has been painted for several hours, I have been painting and typing with it and the paint has not cracked at all. It feels light-weigh on my skin and is not coarse or rough in any way.

I am very excited to be face painting this weekend with such a great I high quality face paint.

Disclosure: I am in no way affiliated with Snazaroo nor was I paid for my opinion or given samples.
